DUTIES
Reporting to the Associate University Librarian (Health Sciences) and the Manager of Computer Support Services (HSIMS), the successful applicant will be responsible for the coordination of Health Sciences Library information technology (IT) needs with HSIMS and the Memorial University Libraries and development and support of library IT applications. Duties include developing and documenting of computer systems to support library system activities; providing web and database programming support to projects; coordinating, implementation and support for computer software applications obtained from external sources; coordinating technical support and providing IT consultation to library staff; and performing other related duties as required. A significant proportion of the duties of this position will involve support for activities of the Memorial University Libraries which are under the Manager of Information technology (Queen Elizabeth II Library)
Qualifications
Experience (1-3) years in Windows and Linux server administration with some knowledge in computer programming; graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in computer science OR another discipline supplemented by the completion of an IT program; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Experience in the development of web-based database applications, experience in server administration in both Linux and Windows server environments, and knowledge of AJAX, Javascript, PERL, XML, CSS, Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP environments is required. Knowledge of ASP.Net applications, experience in developing databases with SQL SERVER and familiarity with the university computing environment would be considered assets. Strong communication skills are essential.
SALARY: $40,534 - $56,841 per annum (CUPE Local 1615)
