POWER & CONTROLS ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGIST

DUTIES
The successful applicant will perform advanced power and controls work at a Lead Hand level involving the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of power/emergency distribution systems and boiler plant controls. Duties include installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing a variety of controls systems, low pressure heating systems, hot water systems, auxiliary equipment, hot water heat exchangers, compressors, motors, pumps, tanks, pneumatic and electronic equipment and controls; cleaning, aligning, repairing and testing HVAC, refrigeration and heating system components; allocating priorities of work, assigning and supervising the work of shop staff; monitoring and coordinating the work of outside maintenance contractors to ensure quality control and conformance with codes; assisting in the preparation and maintenance of a variety of records; assisting with the maintenance of shop inventories of parts and equipment; ensuring that tools and equipment are in good, safe working order; ensuring the observation of safety regulations; directing and participating in preventive maintenance programming; providing technical support on issues as needed; and performing other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (3-5 years) in performing building maintenance in the area of power and controls, including some (up to 1 year) supervisory experience; graduation from a three year technology program in Electrical Engineering (Power & Controls) from a recognized institution of technology or trades school supplemented by the possession of a valid Industrial Electrician's certificate, as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
SALARY $27.55 - $33.28 per hour (NAPE Local 7801)
