A PSE cluster can be connected to multiple networks and/or utilize Digital's Memory Channel technology to implement message passing within HPF applications. Digital generally recommends that the highest performance communications media be utilized to interconnect cluster members.
PSE currently supports any Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) network, as well as the Digital Memory Channel interconnect. Memory Channel provides a high-bandwidth and low latency communications path between PSE cluster members.
PSE is able to utilize virtually any communications medium providing a TCP/IP interface. Among those interfaces provided directly through Digital are the following:
Other manufactures can provide additional support for other high performance interconnects, such as:
Although Digital's Memory Channel technology provides a TCP/IP interface, PSE implements native support which offers significantly higher messaging performance.
