People are becoming more concerned about fitness. They’re getting active when they are young and continuing throughout their lives, which means an increased demand for fitness and recreation professionals.

If you want to teach, the physical education program is suited for you. You’ll learn the theory and practice of preparing young bodies and minds for a lifetime of activity, health and wellness. The School of Human Kinetics and Recreation prides itself on our student centered experiential approach to teaching. In other words, you won't just learn in the classroom.

Kinesiology, the science of human movement and exercise, is a gateway to a variety of career choices. Kinesiology is an appropriate degree for professional programs including medicine, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy.

Your recreation degree will prepare you for a management role in the increasing numbers of fitness clubs and programs, or a therapeutic role in the health care sector.

Sea-Hawks Athletics Memorial University participates in sports as a member of Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS), competing against other Canadian post-secondary institutions in exhibition, regular season and championship play.
