Annual Asbestos Air Monitoring Reports
The following reports summarize the results of monitoring for airborne asbestos fibres.
- 2017 Report - Monitoring was carried out in January 2017, as per the MUNFA collective agreement. Air samples were collected in 84 locations on the St. John’s campus, and each sample was analyzed for asbestos fibres. The sampling results were compared with the threshold limit value of 0.1 fibres/ml, which is the exposure limit established by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists and referenced in the NL Occupational Health Regulations (section 42(7)(c)). All sampling results are within the exposure limit for asbestos fibres and therefore considered to be acceptable.
