Meeting of the Atlantic Metropolis Centre
Inco Innovation Centre, Memorial University
Monday and Tuesday, May 14th and 15th, 2007
The mandate of the Atlantic Metropolis Centre (AMC) is to pursue policy-relevant research related to immigration, population migrations and cultural diversity. It pursues research agendas distinctive to the Atlantic region, as well as research programs addressing the national policy priorities of The Metropolis Project. The AMC is networked with four other Canadian Metropolis Centres of Excellence in Montreal, Toronto, the Prairies, and Vancouver, as well as with the international arm of the Metropolis Project, involving partnerships with researchers, policy makers and community organizations in over 20 countries.
This meeting will be attended by researchers from universities in the Maritimes and by representatives of immigrant-serving agencies in all four Atlantic Provinces, as well as by federal and provincial government officials from Ottawa, the Maritimes and Newfoundland and Labrador. This will be a great opportunity to find out what is happening in the world of immigration, a field which is growing in importance in the developed world.
The Tuesday morning session is dedicated to encouraging more research in immigration, population migrations and cultural diversity at Memorial University.
