Faculty

It is Memorial’s intention to work with faculty individually to minimize as much as possible the impact that illness related to H1N1 will have on them. In this respect please contact the head of your academic unit or Faculty Relations via phone or email if you are being impacted by H1N1.

If you suspect you have H1N1, please stay home until 24 hours after all symptoms have subsided. Contact your department head and cancel classes for which you are responsible.

The government of Newfoundland and Labrador has advised that only individuals exhibiting serious H1N1 symptoms or who fall into a high risk health category should seek medical attention. For this reason, in the case of employees who are absent from work because of the H1N1 virus, the University has waived the requirement to provide a medical certificate.

The University encourages employees returning to work after being ill with the H1N1 virus to self identify on the “Reason for Absence Form” in order to waive the requirement to provide a medical certificate.

If you have any questions, please contact your administrative head or the Office of Faculty Relations.
