I recently returned to Memorial University as a postdoctoral fellow, having completed my MSc in MUN’s Department of Biology in 2007. I obtained my BSc in Marine Biology from Guelph University (2004) and PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Victoria (2014). My PhD research examined the impacts of a local spill of industrial PCBs on ringed seals and their habitat. My research has focused in large part on the biological and physical processes in Arctic coastal environments, effects of climate change on Arctic marine ecosystems, and understanding the influence of habitat use and feeding ecology that drive contaminant exposure in marine species and consequences for their health. I will be working at MUN with Dr. Trevor Bell as the coordinator of ArcticNet’s Integrated Regional Impact Study (IRIS) for the Eastern Arctic. I will also be developing benthic habitat classification schemes for coastal Labrador fiords using multibeam bathymetry and video/grab samples.
