I received my BA (1994), BA (Hons) (1995) and MA (1998) degrees from the Department of Geography, Memorial University. My areas of specialization relate to the regulatory and planning processes associated with development projects, plans and policies – particularly, environmental assessment.

At the onset of my career I was employed with a major Canadian environmental and engineering consulting firm, where I was involved in environmental assessments and related studies and permitting processes for a range of developments, including mines, highways, oil and gas exploration and development projects, hydroelectric facilities and others. I later worked with the Department of Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, where I was involved in policy development, planning and negotiations with aboriginal groups, particularly as related to resource development and associated regulatory and planning processes. This included programs and initiatives related to the Voisey’s Bay Mine / Mill, the Trans Labrador Highway (Phase 3) and the proposed Lower Churchill Hydroelectric Development.

I am currently an Environmental Assessment Specialist and Negotiator with Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro. As part of the Lower Churchill Project team, I am involved in planning and conducting that Project's environmental assessment, as well as in associated consultation processes and negotiations with the Labrador Innu.
