CMD expands partnership with York University
by Meaghan Whelan

The Centre for Management Development (CMD) has extended its program offerings as a result of an expanded partnership with York University’s Schulich Executive Education Centre (SEEC). The new contract, signed Nov. 15, announced a more professional development opportunities and greater collaboration between the two centres.

The CMD has been working with York University since 1999. One of its most popular programs, the Masters Certificate in Project Management, was the start to a valuable relationship with SEEC. New SEEC programs being offered for the first time at the CMD include Managing Your Sales Force for Improved Results, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving for Leaders, and Business Skills for Project Managers.

Alan Middleton is the executive director of the Schulich Executive Education Centre at York University. He commented that one of the many benefits of partnerships, such as that with the CMD, is the continuity of high quality management education across Canada. “The Schulich Executive Education Centre university partnership brings a network of universities together to provide the very best executive education programs to business communities throughout Canada and the United States. The executive education centres share executive education programs, ideas, develop new programs and reach out to the business communities to assess their needs.”

The Schulich Executive Education Centre is ranked second in the world for open-enrolment programs and fourth for custom programs in the 2006 executive education ranking. The Economist magazine ranked the centre as “the top tier in the world.” The strength of their programming comes from offering courses on cutting-edge topics from world-class faculty.

The CMD, an outreach centre of the Faculty of Business Administration, offers professional development programs for all levels of management, from new supervisors looking to build their management skills to senior level executives participating in the executive development program. In addition to open enrolment seminars, the centre also creates client specific programs to suit organizational needs.
