Harold Leslie Snyder
Harold Snyder passed away peacefully in a Kingston hospital Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, after a brief illness. Born in Shawinigan on Jan. 1, 1926, Harold served in the Canadian Armoured Corps and studied civil engineering at McGill. He worked on international projects with Rio Algom and Brinco, then joined CFLCo on the Churchill Falls hydroelectric project, rising from construction manager to executive vice-president. In 1975, he founded the Centre for Cold Ocean Resources Engineering (C-CORE) in St. John’s and lectured at Memorial University of Newfoundland. In 1982, he was invested as an Officer of the Order of Canada.
