Get ready to fall for Grenfell
Sir Wilfred Grenfell College is gearing up for its annual I Fell For Grenfell celebration, scheduled for Oct. 23-27. The festivities, which coincides with I Love MUNdays, will see no fewer than 23 events slated for the five-day period.
The celebration kicks off Tuesday, Oct. 23, with Healthy Bodies/Healthy Minds, an event organized by Western Regional School of Nursing. Everyone is invited to take the healthy living challenge.
Sessions such as Introduction to Meditation, Qi Gong, BAQ Martial Arts, Taoist Tai Chi, Introduction to Yoga, Reiki Energy Therapy and Energy-based Health will help people get in touch with themselves and learn how their own energy can heal their minds and bodies.
The official launch of I Fell for Grenfell, including the Campus Dash and BBQ, takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 24. The official launch will take place at 4 p.m. on the lawn outside the GCSU Food Court. And if you are athletically inclined, you’ll be right in time for Campus Dash 2007: Rain or shine! Walk it! Run it! One-kilometre or two-kilometre route. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers, top residence and chalet, and the top junior/high school. Registration will be held 3:30-4 p.m. outside the GCSU Food Court. Race starts at 4:15 p.m. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, have a snack at the Campus Dash BBQ, following the race.
“Pay It Forward,” which will take place throughout the I Fell for Grenfell period, will see students, faculty and staff carry out a good deed for other individuals and then those individuals will “Pay It Forward!”
Other events include the Healthy Start Breakfast, a public lecture on Global warming, and, sure to be a favourite, “Pie the Prof!” Patrons will be able to bid on a pie at the pie auction, then wind up and let’er rip. Here’s your chance to unleash some banana cream fury on selected profs and staff at Grenfell College.
