Dr. Erich Peter

Dr. Erich Peter, former head of the Department of Commerce, now the Faculty of Business Administration, died in Vancouver on Nov. 10, 2006, aged 89. He studied in industrial psychology and chartered accountancy. Dr. Peter was a faculty member from 1970-1982, and during his tenure he began the conversion of the Commerce program to Co-operative Education. He was an active member in the Faculty Association and the Faculty Club, and will be remembered as a guitar player with Dr. Jazz. He is survived by his son, Toby, and former wife, Monica. A memorial service was held in Vancouver, Nov. 18.

John Joseph (Jack) Power

Jack Power, a retired employee from DELT (Distance Education and Learning Technologies), passed away on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, aged 64. Donations may be made to the SPCA or the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre or to a charity of ones choice. Jack was also the owner/operator of the former Tea Room/Museum at the Fort Amherst Lighthouse and will be remembered for his great sense of humour, endless jokes, intelligence, determination and his love of hiking the South Side Hills with his dog, Amherst.
