Ellen Steinhauer has joined the Office of the Vice-President (Research) as the co-ordinator of institutional nominations and awards. In this new position, Ms. Steinhauer will be working collaboratively with various departments to identify faculty and staff members for honours, distinctions and prizes.
Ms. Steinhauer will be offering advice and guidance on various award competitions and programs as well as facilitating the development and submission of nominations. Additionally, she will be working in consultation with Marketing and Communications to develop and co-ordinate a communications strategy for promoting the award recipients. This position was created in an effort to enhance the recognition of the contributions made by Memorial’s employees.
Ms. Steinhauer is a business professional with many years of experience working in the private sector in the United States in the areas of sales, internal auditing, event planning and management and marketing and communication. She was employed locally with Newfoundland and Labrador Housing, a provincial Crown corporation, for over four years as a strategic planning officer and an internal auditor.
Ms. Steinhauer has also put her skills to good use in the non-profit sector, as a volunteer for the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Canada and is currently the chair of the events committee for the 2007 Habitat for Humanity Women Build.
Ms. Steinhauer is a graduate of the University of Southern New Hampshire, Manchester, New Hampshire, where she obtained her bachelor of science in business administration.
