Dr. Vit Bubenik, Department of Linguistics, attended the 13th
World Sanskrit Conference, at the University of Edinburgh, July 10-14, where
he presented a paper entitled On the Rise and Remaking of the Middle Voice in
Anatolian and Indo-Iranian. Meanwhile, in March, he attended the international
colloquium Linguistique Descriptive et Didactique D’amazigh (Berbere Marocain)
at the University Ibn Zohr, Agadir (Morocco).
Dr. Richard Ilgner, Department of German and Russian, delivered
a paper at the International Conference on New Directions on the Humanities,
held in Tunisia in July. He spoke about the need, in a world facing numerous
challenges to human potential and dominated by the agenda of science and business,
to advance an inclusive humanitarian curriculum. This is the third consecutive
year Dr. Ilgner has presented at the conference, which draws hundreds of scholars
from around the world to identify new bridges between disciplines, ideas and
cultural perspectives.
Dr. Jim Wyse presented the paper Data Management for Location-Based
Mobile Business Applications: The Location-Aware Linkcell Method at the Seventh
World Congress on the Management of e-Business held in Halifax, July 13-15,
2006. The paper is published in the proceedings of the Congress. This year’s
Congress was a joint effort of the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University,
the Ontario Research Network for Electronic Commerce (ORNEC), the McMaster e-Business
Research Centre (MeRC), the Sobey School of Business at St. Mary’s University,
Nova Scotia Business Inc., and Innovacorp.
