Dr. Jean Briggs, professor emeritus, Department of Anthropology, was recently awarded a lifetime achievement award from the Psychological Association, a division of the American Anthropological Association.

Dr. Robert Paine, professor emeritus, Department of Anthropology, was recently awarded the 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences Commission on Nomadic Peoples.

Dr. Wei Qiu, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, has been appointed the Canadian representative on a Specialist Committee on Powering Performance Prediction of the 25th International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC) for improving ship design.

Dr. Peter Sinclair, Department of Sociology, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Sociology and Anthropology Association. Dr. Sinclair was named University Research Professor in 1992.
