Papers & Presentations
Dr. Vit Bubenik, University Research Professor, Department
of Linguistics, presented a paper at the 17th International Conference on Historical
Linguistics at the University of Madison, Wisconsin, (July 31-Aug. 5, 2005)
titled Middle and Perfect in Proto-Semitic with a Special Reference to Indo-European.
He also co-authored a paper titled Systemic Reduction in Indo-European Case
Systems, presented by Dr. John Hewson at the same conference.
Dr. Richard Ilgner, head, Department of German and Russian,
received a DAAD Grant from the German government to give a presentation at the
Sorbonne University, Paris, titled Die Schmiede- und Schlangenmythologie in
Goethe’s Faust. He also gave a presentation at University of Cambridge, United
Kingdom, titled The Conflict of Epistemologies in Goethe.
Dr. Graham Shorrocks, English, is the editor in chief of volume
12 of Dialectologia et Geolinguistica, published by Mouton de Gruyter
(Berlin and New York). Dialectologia et Geolinguistica is the journal
of the International Society for Dialectology and Geolinguistics/Société Internationale
de Dialectologie et Géolinguistique (SIDG).
Dr. Jim Wyse, Faculty of Business Administration, presented
his paper titled Web-Based Directories with Spatial Search Functionality: An
Analysis of Inter- and Intra-Directory Performance at the 35th Annual Atlantic
Schools of Business Conference held in Halifax, N.S., on Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 2005.
The paper is published in the conference proceedings.
