This 11-month-old, 300-pound yearling moose was out for a bit of a joyride on May 6 and was spotted on Memorial’s St. John’s campus by Boyd Ash, project technologist with the Department of Facilities Management. The animal was first seen on the Prince Philip Parkway near the university before making its way here to the old soccer pitch adjacent to Hatcher House. Officials with Campus Enforcement and Patrol (CEP) closed the gates to the field before a provincial wildlife officer tranquilized the yearling and released it in the Cochrane Pond Park area.
