Obituary

Wilfred George

Wilfred George, retired from the Department of Facilities Management, passed away at the L.A. Miller Centre in St. John’s, on April 18, 2006, two days before his 67th birthday, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Alexander Campbell Cheyne

Alec Cheyne, professor of ecclesiastical history in the University of Edinburgh from 1964 to 1986, passed away in Peebles, Scotland, on March 31, 2006. He was 82. Prof. Cheyne was an outstanding church historian who lectured widely in his field not only in the United Kingdom but also in Canada and the U.S.A. Memorial University awarded him a honorary doctor of letters degree at fall convocation 1983.
