New additions to communications team

Tracey Mills has taken on the newly-created position of communications co-ordinator with the Faculty of Arts and Division of University Relations. Ms. Mills will provide communications and public relations support to the faculty, promote the research and academic success of faculty members and students, and lead the faculty in their community outreach endeavours.

Ms. Mills holds a BA (Hons.) in English and Philosophy and an M.Phil. (Humanities), both from Memorial University. Prior to joining the Faculty of Arts, she worked as communications co-ordinator with the Division of University Relations and editor of The Communicator. Her previous experience includes an overseas assignment as regional communications editor with Schlumberger Oilfield Services based in Atyrau, Kazakhstan and the position of communications co-ordinator with the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science from 2001-03.

Jeff Green has joined the Division of University Relations as communications co-ordinator. In this position, he will regularly contribute stories about students and faculty to the Gazette and MUN Today.

Mr. Green will also be the editor of The Communicator, Memorial’s employee newsletter, and will be responsible for compiling employee profiles, news from across Memorial University’s campuses and highlights of special events and initiatives of the Department of Human Resources.

Mr. Green graduated from Memorial University with a bachelor of arts degree and holds a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of King’s College in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He has previously worked for VOCM News, CBC Radio and Downhomer magazine. A freelance writer for more than 10 years, his work has been featured in Saltscapes, Canadian Geographic and Media magazines.
