Desmond Jerome (Jerry, DJ) Murphy
Jerry Murphy, former professor in Political Science, died
peacefully at home in St. John’s, July 9, 2010, age 77.
Robert Patrick Barten Paine
Dr. Robert Paine passed away on July 8 at St. Clare's Mercy
Hospital in St. John’s. Dr. Paine came to Memorial University
in 1965 to be head of Sociology and Anthropology, and also director
of the Institute for Social and Economic Research. He received an
honorary doctor of letters degree from Memorial in 2009.
