Memorial
University of Newfoundland is named as a living memorial
to those who fought in the first and second world wars.
The university’s Centre for Newfoundland Studies
Archives oversees a large part of the archival records
of many who made that contribution. Among the collection
at the CNS archive is this photo of the Windsor Contingent
of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment who were quarantined
in Windsor, N.S., in 1917 and played a series of hockey
games with teams in the area. (Clockwise from front, centre)
H.G.R. (Harry) Mews, Charlie Strong, Ernie Churchill,
Rex White, Duke Winter and Lionel Duley.
