Dr. Charles Carroll Davis
Chuck Davis died peacefully, eating lunch and drinking a glass
of wine on Feb. 25, 2004, at 92 years of age. He was predeceased
by his ally, co-worker and wife, Sally Davis. He is survived
by his son Peter Davis and daughter Betsy Gimbel both living
in Pennsylvania and grandchildren Clifton Davis in Pennsylvania
and Andrea Slaski in Hawaii. Dr. Davis came to Memorial in
1968 where he worked in the Department of Biology and the
Ocean Sciences Centre. In 1984 he was named professor emeritus
and up to the time of his death, he went to work every day,
save weekends and Labour Day. A memorial celebration of the
life of Dr. Davis will be held on March 19 at the Bristol
Seniors Complex located at 44 Blackmarsh Road. The service
begins at 4:30 p.m. and will be held in the commons room (downstairs
after you enter the building). All are welcome.
Ruth Elizabeth Martin
Ruth Martin, a retired nurse who worked in Student Health,
Student Affairs and Services, for over 30 years, died suddenly
at home Feb. 29, aged 65 years. Ruth was a graduate of the
General Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1959.
