Globalization theme of Harvey lecture

Dr. James Scott

James C. Scott will be visiting Memorial University March 10-12 as a Henrietta Harvey Distinguished Lecturer. Dr. Scott is Sterling Professor of Political Science and Anthropology and the director of the Program in Agrarian Studies at Yale University. His books include: Seeing Like a State: How Certain Schemes to Improve the Human Condition Have Failed; Domination and the Arts of Resistance: Hidden Transcripts; and Weapons of the Weak: Everyday Forms of Peasant Resistance.

Everyone is welcome at the following events:

Seminar: Wednesday, March 10, 4 p.m. in room SN-2033: Why Civilizations Can't Climb Hills: Hill Valley Relations in South East Asia.

Lecture: Thursday, March 11, 7:30 p.m. in room AA-1043: Globalization: The Search for a Universal Gear. Reception to follow.

Seminar: Friday, March 12, 4 p.m., in the Sally Davis Room, SN-4087: Last Names as a State Project.
