30 years ago
His aim is steady
July 1974 – Memorial University's Frank Zahn
is representing Newfoundland at the Canadian Shooting Federation
Fall and Winter Indoor Championships. Mr. Zahn, a rifle and
pistol shooting coach at MUN, captured first place honours
in the expert classification.
25 years ago
Business winners all around
July 1979 – Business students at Memorial set
a new record, winning four of the six awards from the Royal
Bank Business Student Writing Awards. The winning students
attended the award ceremonies in Toronto on July 21.
20 years ago
New parking regulations
July 1984 – New regulations for parking on
Memorial's campus come into effect this month. With an anticipated
enrolment increase of between 2,500 and 3,000 new students
for the fall semester, stricter penalties are implemented
to reduce overcrowding on the parking lots and illegal parking
around campus.
10 years ago
New home for alumni affairs
July 1994 – The Office of Alumni Affairs and
Development moves to a new location at 1 Lambe's Lane, literally
around the corner from its former offices on Westerland Road.
The new office space is a house originally owned by a St.
John's family – the Morgans – which was donated
to the university by the provincial government
