Mary Dalton, Department of English, in
October read poems from her new book Merrybegot in
the cities of St. John's, Corner Brook, Montreal, Ottawa and
Toronto. The tour was sponsored by the League of Canadian
Poets, the Canada Council for the Arts and Montreal publisher
Vehicule Press. In April, Ms. Dalton read her work at major
literary venues in the cities of Waterford, Cork, Galway,
Dublin and Belfast; that tour was funded by the CCA and the
Ireland-Newfoundland Partnership.
Dr. Valerie Legge, English, delivered a paper
titled Agnes C. Laut: Romancing the American West at the 17th
biennial Association for Canadian Studies in the United States
Conference in Portland, Oregon, Nov. 19-23.
Dr. Ursula Kelly, Faculty of Education, recently
published The Place of Reparation: Love, Loss, Ambivalence
and Teaching, a chapter in Teaching, Learning, and Loving:
Reclaiming Passion in Educational Practice (Routledge,
2004), a collection edited by Daniel Liston of the University
of Colorado and James Garrison of Virginia Tech. |
