DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY
Memorial University of Newfoundland invites applications
and/or nominations from within the university for the position
of Head, Department of Biochemistry. The appointment, to
be effective May 1, 2004, is initially for a term of three
years and is renewable.
The Department of Biochemistry offers undergraduate programs
in Biochemistry, Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as M.Sc.
and PhD programs in Biochemistry and Food Science. Research
areas within the Department include lipid biochemistry,
toxicology, protein biochemistry, metabolism, nutrition,
eucaryotic and procaryotic molecular biology, food science
and dietetics.
Applicants are expected to be actively engaged in biochemical
research and to offer an established record of externally
funded research, administrative competence and teaching
excellence. The head must be able to take advantage of the
opportunities that will arise.
