Memorial celebrated fall convocation Oct. 18 in St. John’s. While about 600 students received degrees, special honours were bestowed upon Simon Schama and Bob Cole, who received honorary degrees, and Dr. Detlef Bieger, Dr. J. J. Sharp and Dr. Chesley Sanger were awarded the title professor emeritus.
