This monthly report is compiled from information
made available by the Campus Enforcement and Patrol unit. CEP is located
in the Services Building on Memorial's St. John's campus, telephone 737-4100.
At Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, the security office is Room AS-280, Arts
and Science Building, telephone 637-6210. At the Marine Institute, Ridge
Road, telephone 778-0456 to reach the security office.
The figures given below are based on the
number of reports made to CEP during September 2002. Incidents reported
do not necessarily result in criminal charges being laid; this depends
on the outcome of an investigation.

September 2002
. None of the fire alarms in September involved
fire.
. On Sept. 6, a student broke a door at the Field
House. Compensation was paid and no charges were laid. On Sept. 8 and
11, graffiti was discovered on the crosswalk at Paton College and the
Chemistry/Physics Building. On Sept. 12 a mirror was torn from a car in
the parking lot on Irwins Road. On Sept. 23 and again on Sept. 24,
a window was broken on the Ingstad Building. On Sept. 20, a window was
broken at the Breezeway by an intoxicated male. Compensation was paid
and no charges were laid. On Sept. 29, windows were broken at the Blackhall
School building.
. On Sept. 17, a video/data projector was stolen
from the Education Building. On Sept. 1, files were stolen from a room
in Cabot Court. On Sept. 11, there were three reports of backpacks stolen
from the QE II library. On Sept. 16, a jacket was stolen from a locker
at the Field House. On Sept. 18, a watch and credit card was stolen from
a locker in the Field House. On Sept. 11, a wallet was stolen from the
Chemistry/Physics Building. On Sept. 12, a license plate was stolen from
a car parked in lot A-15. On Sept. 8, jewelry was stolen from a room in
Squires House. On Sept. 19, a wallet was stolen from the Radiology Department
of the Health Sciences Centre. On Sept. 25, a wallet was stolen from the
Health Sciences Centre. On Sept. 26, a bag with a wallet, clothes and
books was stolen from the squash courts in the Phys Ed Building.
. On Sept. 5, CEP responded to a disturbance at
the courtyard in Paton College where students were reported drinking.
On Sept. 7, a warning was issued to students drinking in the walkway between
Blackhall and Barnes house. On Sept. 13, a male was reported drinking
in public near the University Centre. On Sept. 18, someone was reported
smoking marijuana in Paton College. The suspect was not located. On Sept.
27, there was a report of three male students fighting at the Breezeway.
On Sept. 13, a glass door was kicked out at the Engineering Building.
There was a fight reported in Parking Area 12 near Rothermere House on
Sept. 20. There was a report of drinking in public at residence on Sept
3. There was a report of public nudity (streaking) at residence on Sept.
12. There was an altercation between two males at the Breezeway Sept.
28.
. On Sept. 23, a break and entry was reported in
offices of the Smallwood Centre. On Sept. 12, there was a break and enter
of a vehicle parked in Area 3, the track of the Aquarena. A CD player
was stolen.
. A suspicious person was reported outside Squires
House on Sept. 9. CEP responded but no one was found.
Campus Enforcement and Patrol would like to remind people on campus to
be aware of leaving personal items unattended. A majority of thefts that
occur on campus are the result of items left unattended, a preventable
crime.
