Joy Glenys Tillotson
Joy Tillotson, head, Information Services Division of the Q.E. II Library,
49, passed away at the Miller Centre, St. Johns, NL, on Feb. 20,
2003. Born in Quebec City, she was raised in Wolfville, N.S., and attended
Acadia University (B.Sc.), Memorial University (M.Sc.), and Simmons College
(MLS). She was employed as a professional librarian at the Institute for
Marine Dynamics and at Memorial University. She enjoyed volunteering for
Amnesty International participating in the arts community in St. Johns
by singing with Saraband and the MUN Festival Choir, playing in the Gower
Street Band and supporting the theatre community. An important part of
her life was entertaining and being entertained by her wide circle of
friends. She was an active and valued member of the Atlantic Provinces
Library Association. Both in her academic work in mathematics and her
research career in library studies, she demonstrated a high standard of
excellence. She was predeceased by her father Glen, and is survived by
her mother Doreen, Wolfville, N.S.; sister Shirley, Halifax; brother Jim
(Jane Cayford), Wolfville; and her many close friends in St. Johns.
She will be sorely missed. At Joys request, donations in her memory
can be made to the Joy Tillotson Memorial Fund at the Queen Elizabeth
II Library, Memorial University, A1B 3Y1.
