Lectures resume, 14-week spring semester


Medicine seminar — Dr. Adel B. Elmoselhi, Center of Cardiovascular Research, Toronto General Hospital (cardiovascular scientist candidate), will present a seminar titled Conditional Over Expression of Human ET-1 in Arterial Smooth Muscle Cells Causes Transient Hypertension and Vascular Remodelling in Transgenic Mice at 1:30 p.m. in Theatre G - Room 3454 (Nursing), Health Sciences Centre.

Neuroscience speaker — Division of Basic Medical Sciences neuroscience visiting speaker Dr. Charles Yang, Neuroscience Discovery, Eli Lilly and Co., Lilly Corporate Centre, Indianapolis, Indiana, will speak on Dopamine D1 Receptor Modulates State-Dependent Switching of Dendritic Ca2+ Potentials in Rat Prefrontal Cortical Neurons: Mechanisms for Optimal Cognitive Processing? from 12–1:30 p.m. Lecture Theatre B.

Senior’s Day — Senior’s Day at the Botanical Garden takes place from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The Friends of MUN Botanical Garden would like to invite all seniors (60+) to Memorial University Botanical Garden on Friday, June 27 for a special Seniors' Day. Admission for all seniors will be free that day. Sponsored by the Friends of the Garden and C.A.R.P. (The Canadian Association of Retired Persons, Avalon Chapter). Garden volunteers and staff are offering a variety of activities for seniors to enjoy that day including: Complementary refreshments, garden tours, nature hikes, “Ask The Gardener”, greenhouse tours. Sundays are family fun days at the Botanical Garden. A wide variety of activities are offered for the whole family including a nature walk at 10 a.m., story and arts and crafts time at 11 a.m., dining with ducks walk at 12 p.m., puppet show and/or story time at 2 p.m. and a nature hike to Oxen Pond with duck feeding at 3 p.m. Look for hidden creatures on the Garden’s Discovery Trail. Please call 737-8590 for more information. The Garden is open every day from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Botanical Garden presents its 26th annual Garden and Nature Art Exhibition from July 4-Aug. 3, seven days a week from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The Garden is located at 306 Mount Scio Road.
