q DR. JOHN C. KENNEDY, Anthropology,
presented a paper titled Distinct or Similar? Labrador Settlers as Métis
and 'Inuit', to a session on mixed communities in the circumpolar north
at the American Anthropological Association meetings, New Orleans, Nov.
20.
q DR. DAVID KEEGAN, clinical assistant professor,
Family Medicine, presented a poster at the Research in Medical Education
component of the Association of American Medical Colleges meeting in San
Francisco, November 2002. The project, Building the Benchmark: A Pilot
Study of Patient Encounter Analysis to Enhance Undergraduate Medical Education
and Improve Rural Health Care Delivery, was conducted prior to leaving
Placentia, Newfoundland.
q DR. SUKHINDER KAUR, assistant professor
and CIHR New Investigator, Department of Biochemistry, attended the Canadian
Lipoprotein Conference in Banff, AB, Oct. 24-27 and gave an oral presentation
of a paper titled Response of Cholesterol Ester Transfer Protein to Dietary
Cholesterol Varies with the Type and Amount of Dietary Fat, co-authored
with graduate student Cathy Murray. She also presented a poster titled
Hypercholesterolemic Effect of Fish Oil in F1B Hamsters, co-authored with
graduate student Pujitha DeSilva and Dr. Phil Davis (Biochemistry, MUN).
q DR. ELIZABETH CHURCH, Counselling Centre,
DR. NORM GARLIE, Faculty of Education, and LYNDA YOUNGHUSBAND, Faculty
of Education, recently had a paper titled High School Teacher Stress in
Newfoundland, Canada: A Work in Progress published in the conference proceedings
of the Hawaii International Conference on Education. Ms. Younghusband
and Dr. Garlie presented the paper at the conference in early January.
