This monthly report is compiled from information made available
by the Campus Enforcement and Patrol unit. CEP is located in the Services
Building on Memorial's St. John's campus, telephone 737-4100. At Sir Wilfred
Grenfell College, the security office is Room AS-280, Arts and Science
Building, telephone 637-6210. At the Marine Institute, Ridge Road, telephone
778-0456 to reach the security office.
The figures given below are based on the number of reports made to CEP
during December 2002. Incidents reported do not necessarily result in
criminal charges being laid; this depends on the outcome of an investigation.

December 2002
o None of the eight fire alarms in December
involved fire.
o A vending machine was damaged during a
break and entry Dec. 9 in Coughlan College. There was a theft in the Engineering
Building Dec. 9 with a purse, a wallet, three cell phones and two jackets
taken. Another coat was stolen from the Engineering Building on Dec. 9.
A clock radio and several CDs were stolen from an apartment in Guy Court
Dec. 11.A walkman was stolen from a room in the School of Music on Dec.
20. A number of items were stolen from a locker in the Field House on
Dec. 20 including a jacket, purse, fleece sweater and jeans. There was
an attempted break and entry at the Human Kinetics building on Dec. 21.
There was a break, entry and theft at the Aquarena Dec. 26. An undisclosed
amount of cash was stolen from a safe. An investigation is continuing.
o On Dec. 18 two men were detained next
to the CERR Building for drinking in public and illegal drug possession.
o There was a fight between two men in the
University Centre on Dec. 6. On Dec. 19 there was a complaint of noise
at Cabot Court and another at Rothermere. A man was questioned after verbally
abusing staff at the QE II library on Dec. 23.
o There was a report of a suspicious person
in the University Centre food court and in the tunnels on Dec. 18.
Grenfell College
o None of the fire alarms in December involved
fire.
o On Dec. 8, a washing machine in the residence
laundry room had its coin box broken off and removed.
o On Dec. 7, CEP responded to a complaint
of noise at the residence chalets. On Dec. 12, there was a complaint of
men fighting on University Drive. The high school students involved were
separated. On Dec. 13, there was a complaint of loud music coming from
the student apartments. On Dec. 14, CEP responded to a complaint of noise
at the residence chalets. On Dec. 15, CEP responded to a complaint of
noise at the residence chalets. On Dec. 16, there was a complaint of loud
music coming from the student apartments.
