q Dr. Frederick H. White,
German and Russian, will be presenting a paper titled Fine Madness: Aleksandr
Blok and Cyclothymia, at the beginning of April in Columbus, Ohio. The
conference is entitled Those Crazy Russians: Madness in Russia, organized
by and held at The Ohio State University. Two weeks later, Dr. White will
attend Dartmouth Universitys Russia Week as a special
guest. There, Dr. White will talk with students about the role he played
in the Live From Moscow textbook and video series.
q Dr. Gerard Curtis, Visual Arts,
presented an invited paper entitled Drawing the Line: Deconstructing Drawing
as one of the keynote speakers at the Drawing the Process conference
held at Kingston University (London, England) on Jan. 31. The paper was
sponsored by Kingston University, the University of Plymouth and the Canadian
High Commission in London, with support funding provided by Sir Wilfred
Grenfell College.
q Dr. James Feehan, Economics, Alison Edwards and
the late Dr. Jorge Segovia, both of Community Health, have had
their paper entitled Cigarette Smoking and the Cost of Hospital and Physical
Care accepted for publication in Canadian Public Policy. It will be published
in the March 2003 edition of that journal. It was also co-authored with
Dr. Glenn Harrison of the University of South Carolina.
