This monthly report is compiled from information made available by the Campus Enforcement and Patrol unit. CEP is located in the Services Building on Memorial's St. John's campus, telephone 737-4100. The figures given below are based on the number of reports made to CEP during February and March 2003. Incidents reported do not necessarily result in criminal charges being laid; this depends on the outcome of an investigation.

February 2003

• One of the 13 fire alarms in February and March involved fire. Burning material was found in an ashtray in the Arts Building on Feb. 25.

• On Feb. 7 a parking lot entrance gate was broken; on Feb. 14, glass was broken in the University Centre; on Feb. 20, a dispenser in a washroom in the University Centre was damaged; on Feb. 5, ceiling tiles were damaged in the Chemistry Building; and on March 27, a car parked in Area 11 had its window smashed.

• On Feb. 2, loud noise was reported from Gilbert Court; on Feb. 7, there was a fight reported outside the University Centre; on Feb. 16, loud noise was reported from Baltimore Court; on Feb. 26 there was a disturbance at The Works involving a non-student shouting at staff; there was a fight involving a group of men outside the University Centre Feb. 28; a possible fight was broken up by CEP officers outside the University Centre March 2; two males were involved in a fight outside the Breezeway and again at residence on March 7; two men were reported fighting outside the University Centre March 28; there was a disturbance at Squires House involving a couple fighting on March 23.

• A coat was stolen from the QE II Library Feb. 3; a car parked in the Paton College parking lot had a window smashed and a bag stolen from inside Feb. 9; a purse was stolen from the Music Resource Centre, School of Music, Feb. 10; a bike was stolen from Coughlan College Feb. 17; a bag left unattended was stolen from the Philosophy seminar room in the Arts Atrium Feb. 19; computer parts were stolen from a room in the Education Building Feb. 21; a car parked outside Field Hall had a window smashed and a bag stolen from inside Feb. 27; a number of dry mops were stolen from a cleaners closet at the University Centre March 14 and two men were stopped getting into a taxi with the mops; on March 21 a newspaper stand was reported stolen from the University Centre; on March 21 a banner was stolen from the food court; a number of clothing items were stolen from the University Bookstore March 24; a number of items including a phone, wallet and watch were stolen from a locker in the Phys Ed Building March 26; a jacket was stolen from the male change room at the Aquarena March 27; on March 31 money from a Red Cross box for the Badger Relief Fund was stolen from a room in the University Centre.

• There was a hit and run of a parked vehicle in Health Sciences Centre Area 9E on Feb. 18; there was a hit and run of a parked vehicle in Area 16 on March 6;

• Three men were found smoking marijuana in parking Area 61 Feb. 7; there was a report of marijuana use in the south end residence skywalk Feb. 7; two men were discovered smoking marijuana in Area 61 on March 7; two men were discovered smoking marijuana outside a parked car at the Janeway Hospital March 25; there was a report of drinking in public outside the University Centre March 28;

• None of the fire alarms involved fire.

• There was a report of a harassing phone call on Feb. 8 at the chalet residence and another report of a harassing phone call at residence Feb. 21.

• There were three reports of disturbances involving loud noise at the chalets in February.
