Christa Leigh Ward
Christa Leigh Ward of Portugal Cove South, aged 21 years, who was tragically
killed in an ATV accident early Friday morning May 31, had the day before
graduated as a bachelor of science with a major in Chemistry. Her professors
remember her as a cheerful, witty and unpretentious young lady with realistic
goals and a determination to achieve them. She was interested in her studies,
worked hard, and obtained results well above average. She was proud of
being a Newfoundlander and always willing to help other students when
she could. She had been accepted as a graduate student in Earth Sciences.
It is tragic that her young life should have been ended just at what should
have been the first milestone in a successful career.
