Laura Wellon and Krista Peddle, two third-year bachelor of commerce (co-op) students, have won significant financial awards totalling more than $12,000. Ms. Wellon is one of five women worldwide to receive the 2000 Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship, valued at more than $4,000 US. Ms. Peddle is one of five winners in Atlantic Canada to receive the 2001-2002 Frank H. Sobey Fund for Excellence in Business Studies Award, valued at $7,000. Victoria Collins, director of University Relations, has been elected chairperson of the District I board of directors for the Council for Support and Advancement of Education (CASE) for 2002-04. CASE is an international professional organization for advancement professionals at all levels who work in alumni relations, communications, and development. CASE District I membership includes educational institutions in Atlantic Canada, Quebec and the northeastern United States. Ms. Collins takes office on July 1, after serving a three-year term as the District I representative on CASEs international board of trustees.
