Gerald (Gerry) Warren
Gerald Warren, a retired staff member from the Division of Extension Services,
passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, Jan.
29, 2002, aged 66 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist Restoration Fund or VOWR Radio.
Dr. Ralph Thomas Pastore
Ralph Pastore passed peacefully away at home in the presence of family
and friends on Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, age 60 years. Archaeologist and ethnohistorian,
Dr. Pastore will be sadly missed by his friends and colleagues in the
Department of History, Memorial University, and in the Archaeology Unit,
Queens College. Over his career of 33 years in the history and archaeology
of Canadian Aboriginal peoples, Dr. Pastore touched the lives of countless
numbers of students and professional colleagues in the local and national
heritage communities. He will be remembered both for his contributions
to Beothuk history, especially through excavation and interpretation of
the Boyds Cove site, and for his irrepressible and wildly inventive
sense of humour. Donations may be made to the Crohns and Colitis
Foundation of Canada or to the Newfoundland Cancer Treatment and Research
Foundation.
