DR. WILLIAM J. KIRWIN, English, contributed a chapter titled Newfoundland English to The Cambridge History of the English Language, Vol. 6, English in North America, published in November by Cambridge University Press. Dr. Kirwin also contributed a paper titled Pronunciation Keys in Dictionaries of Place-Names to the journal Linguistica atlantica (Vol. 22).

Dr. GRAHAM SHORROCKS, English, wrote The Dialectology of English in the British Isles, chapter 184 in the second volume of the three-volume handbook, History of the Language Sciences: An International Handbook on the Evolution of the Study of Language from the Beginnings to the Present, published by Walter de Gruyter and Co.
