Memorials new Field House has attracted
a lot of attention during its first semester of use. St. Johns Mayor
Andy Wells, a martial arts afficionado, recently dropped in to tour the
facility and try out the heavy bag, while a disconcerted-looking Anne
Richardson looks on. The Works, of which the Field House is a part, has
proven very popular with Memorial students. Ms. Richardson, the manager
of The Works, reported an average of 800 visits by students to The Works
every day to use the track, cardio centre, pool, courts and strength and
conditioning centre. The Works is also averaging 1,200-1,500 off-campus
visitors a week who use the track on a drop-in basis.
