Dr. Bill Blake, dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, has been appointed to the International Advisory Council of the International Association for Management Education (AACSB). AACSB is a membership organization of educational institutions, corporations, and other organizations devoted to the promotion and improvement of higher education in business administration and management.

Dr. Roy West, Community Health, has received the R.D. Defries Award and Honorary Life Membership in the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA). The award, the association’s highest, was given Oct. 23 at the CPHA annual conference in Ottawa. Dr. West is associate dean for community health and professor of epidemiology in the Faculty of Medicine, and holds an appointment in the School of Pharmacy as professor of microbiology. The award was given for his contribution to the field of public health research and policy in Canada as well as his contribution to CPHA. In the awards citation, Dr. West is described as a proven leader, facilitator and builder of population-based health science and a man highly regarded by his peers in Canada and internationally both for his intellectual contributions as well as his planning, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Dr. West was a founding member of the Canadian Society of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, the first such society in Canada, and recently completed his term as president. He currently holds the position of president for the National Cancer Institute of Canada.
