Dr. Alec
T. Brace
Dr. Alec T. Brace, a retired faculty member from the Faculty
of Education, passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre
in St. Johns on Friday, April 27, 2001, aged 77 years.
Predeceased by his infant daughter Sandra Bertha, infant grandson
Philip, his parents Samuel and Lillian Brace, brothers Heber,
Kenneth and Simeon. Left with loving memories are his wife Elsene
(nee Parsons); daughters Lorna Whalen (Cec), and Beverley Brace,
sons Calvin Brace (Sandra), Dr. Wayne Brace, and Jeffrey Brace
(Melissa); grandchildren: Michelle and Heather Brace, Karen Hill
(Pernel), Nathan and Paul Brace, Terry and Suzanne Fogwell, Jordan,
Kaitlyn and Julia Brace, Ryan and Kristian Green; great-grandchildren
Charis and Riley Hill; also leaving to mourn are his sister Gertie
Kennedy (Max); brother Max Brace (Gertie), Aunt Mrs. Violet Harvey,
several cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be
made to St. James United Church or a charity of ones choice.
Charles
Mercer
Charles Mercer, a retired staff member from the Department of
Facilities Management, passed away suddenly at his home in Chamberlains
on April 28, 2001, aged 59 years. Predeceased by parents Winnie
and Tobias, sister Jean Taylor and brother Ralph. Leaving to
mourn his wife Audrey, three sons: Charles (Marion); Craig (Ann
Marie), Cory (Ann); seven grandchildren: Ryan, Brittany; Cyle,
Paul, Justin, Christa and Christopher; one sister Hazel Struss
(Alex); one brother Thomas (Barbara); sister-in-law Frances Mercer;
brother-in-law Charles Taylor; mother-in-law Ada Dawe; special
aunts Lena Mercer and Marjorie Jefford, also other relatives
and friends. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be
made to The Childrens Wish Foundation or a charity of ones
choice.
Gina
Doreen Blundon
Gina Doreen Blundon, a first-year medical student, passed away
suddenly at the Health Sciences Centre on May 18. She leaves
to mourn parents Alice and Edgar Blundon of Carbonear; sister
Jodi and Gary Brennan, Yellowknife; soul mate Kevin Woodbury
of St. Johns; grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins and special
friends. Donations in her memory may be made to the Newfoundland
and Labrador Special Olympics. A memorial service will be held
for Gina Blundon Friday May 25 at 3:30 p.m. in the main auditorium,
Faculty of Medicine, Health Sciences Centre.
