Dr. Hoh-Cheung Mui
Dr. Hoh-Cheung Mui, a former member of History department and a professor emeritus Memorial, died on Friday, March 2, in Oxford, England, from complications from pneumonia at the age of 84. Dr. Mui joined the History department in September 1965 and retired in 1981, eventually moving to Oxford, England, where he and his wife were living at the time of his death. His major research interest was economic and social history of Britain in the 18th and 19th centuries. His study of the East India Company's Tea Trade between 1784 and 1833 was published by the University of British Columbia Press and was awarded the Harold Innis Prize by the then Social Sciences Federation of Canada.
