No
cause for alarm
On Wednesday,
March 1, a malfunctioning fire alarm system in the new Student
Centre caused some concern, but according to Aidan Kiernan, associate
director of Facilities Management, everything is working fine
now.
A contractor
working on the sprinkler system inadvertently set off the fire
alarm. Occupants of the building noticed that the horn which
provide audio notice of a fire did not go off. Facilities Management
employees investigated, and quickly discovered some loose wires.
During another
false alarm caused by a surge in the city water system later
that same day, all components of the fire alarm system worked
as they should, noted Mr. Keirnan.
Student
Recruitment relocating
On Friday,
March 10, the Office of Student Recruitment and Promotion will
move from the Thomson Centre to the third floor of the Arts and
Administration Building in the space formerly occupied by Student
Affairs and Services, A-3039.
Staff of
the office hope to be up and running by Monday, March 13.
