Learned ones

Members of the CODCO comedy troupe were recognized for their commitment to Newfoundland and Labrador art and culture during Memorial’s spring convocation. (L-R) Andy Jones, Cathy Jones, Mary Walsh and Greg Malone were awarded doctor of letters degrees (honoris causa) during the convocation ceremony May 25 in St. John’s. Honorary degrees were also awarded to Prime Minister Jean Chrétien; the prime minister’s brother, renowned research scientist Dr. Michel Chrétien; historian Dr. Peter Neary; former federal cabinet minister Monique Begin; Senator William Rompkey; businessman Craig Dobbin; and folklorist and linguist Dr. John Widdowson.
