Sincere thank you

Dear Editor,
On behalf of the Howse family I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Marine Institute community, and the university community at large, for its prayers, thoughtful words of encouragement and generous donations to the Howse Children’s Trust Fund. It is hard to believe that it has been over a year since Dale’s tragic death, as well as the death of his two classmates – Stirling Perham and Richard Price.

While our grief has lessened through the healing balm of time, there is not a day that we don’t miss our brother, son, husband and father. We appreciate the Marine Institute’s establishing a scholarship in memory of these three young men and congratulate its first winner Dennis Broderick. We wish him well in his academic and professional career. The scholarship will help us to celebrate and remember the enthusiasm and excitement of these three promising young men as they pursued a career in Marine Engineering.
