Canadian Third Year in Nice Programme

Memorial is a member of a consortium of Canadian universities offering students the opportunity to spend a full academic year in Nice in the South of France. This programme offers an affordable opportunity to enjoy a year of immersion and study in France and to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of French culture and civilization.
Students participating in this programme complete a total of ten (10) courses. Four (4) of these courses are taught by a faculty member of one of the Canadian universities involved in the programme (one course each semester being a French language course, the other a course in an area of expertise of the instructor). The remaining three (3) courses each semester are chosen by the students from those offered by the Université de Nice - Sophia Antipolis. On successful completion of the courses taught by the Canadian Coordinator, students are awarded twelve (12) credit hours for specific Memorial French courses whilst eighteen (18) unspecified credit hours in French at the 3000 level are awarded for the courses offered by the Université de Nice.
Admission to this programme is competitive. Up to five students will be selected. Applicants must have completed French 2101 or 2160 before the beginning of the Fall semester when they would leave for France. Expected completion of other second-year French courses before the beginning of the Fall semester, especially French 2601 and 2602, will strengthen an application.
Memorial students join students from other Canadian universities, currently, the Universities of Western Ontario, Guelph and Windsor.
Students participating in this programme pay the same fees as if they were completing ten (10) courses at their home university.
Students can expect to spend about $1,500 per month for living expenses in addition to tuition fees.
Applications for admission to the Canadian Third Year in Nice for the academic year 2011-2012 may be obtained in the department office SN 4023. The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday, February 15, 2013 at 12:00 noon.
