Come all you British Irishmen a tale to you I'll tell
Concerning Tim McCarthy in Liverpool town did dwell
Down by those western docks one day he carelessly did stray
On board of a western ocean boat he stowed himself away

McCarthy now is young and green not knowing what to do
Italians Greeks and Spaniards was the most part of our crew
But he soon began to take a change and that you all may know
He soon began to __________ the moves on the City of Baltimore

Early every morning it's for'ard our mate would come
Early every morning he'd come to put us through
Saying where' s that blood of an Irish dog our mate to him did say
I'm here says bold McCarthy what do you want of me

Tis true l am an Irishman the same I'll never deny
Before I'll be cowed down by you upon this deck I'll lie
And if you are a man today it' s me you'll stand before
And I'll fight you fair upon the deck on the City of Baltimore

Our mate he being a cowardly man before him would not stand
And he rushed at McCarthy with a b'layin pin in his hand
McCarthy being a smart young man soon laid him in his gore
He knocked him senseless on the deck on the City of Baltimore

Our bosun and our second mate ran to our mate's relief
McCarthy with a b'layin pin he soon made them retreat
His Irish blood began to boil and like a lion he did roar
Sayin' blood in the skies today will fly from the City of Baltimore

Our Captain being a Scotchman, MacDonald was his name
When he heard the story from aft to for'ard he came
Sayin well done young McCarthy you're the lad I do adore
You're the very best man that ever did stand on the City of Baltimore

Tis true I am an Irishman the same I'll never deny
Before I'll be cowed down by them I'll fight until I die
And if I got fair play today as l often got on shore
I'd beat any man from for'ard to aft on the City of Baltimore

Since you are a hero then it's treated well you'll be
Come aft into my cabin come aft and drink with me
And since you are a hero then a man of courage bold
I'll have you bosun on my ship called the City of Baltimore

And when they got to New York town McCarthy walked ashore
He went to the Captain's office and he signed his name once more
He signed his name as bosun and then he sailed away
He was champion on the "Baltimore" bound for South Americay
