Comic Song

Oh when Paddy Doyle lived in Killarney
He courted a girl named Biddy Toole
Her tangle was tipped wit' a bit o' the blarney
That sound to Pat as the golden rule
Each night and day she was his darlin’
And Pat to himself would often say
Now what is the use of walkin' fast sure
Oh she' Il meet me on the way

Chorus:
Right fol de dol de dol de daddy
Right fol de dol de dol de day

Now one heavenly night in last November
As Pat went out to meet his love
What night it was l don't remember
The stars was shining from above
That day the boy had drunk some liquor
That made his spirits light and gay
Now what's the use of walkin fast sure
I know she'll meet me on the way

Chorus:
Right fol de dol de dol de daddy
Right fol de dol de dol de day

Now one heavenly night in last November
As Pat went out to meet his love
What night it was l don't remember.
The stars was shining from above
That day the boy had drunk some liquor
That made his spirits light and gay
Now what's the use of walkin' fast
I know she'll meet me on the way

Chorus:
Right fol de dol de dol de daddy
Right fol de dol de dol de day

Now he tuned his pipes and fell a hummin'
As onwards he did gently jog
Fatigued and overpowered wit' whiskey
Sure Pat lay down upon a sod
But he wasn’t long there without a comrade
And one that could kick up the hay
A big jackass soon smelt out Pat
And lay down beside him on the way
Chorus:
Right fol de dol de dol de daddy
Right fol de dol de dol de day

As Pat lay there in his gentle slumber
Thinking of his Biddy dear
He dreamt of pleasures without number
Coming on this soon year
He spread his arms out on the grass
His spirits felt so light and gay
But instead of Biddy he grasped the ass
And roared out l have her anyway

Chorus:
Right fol de dol de dol de daddy
Right fol de dol de dol de day

Oh he hugged and smugged [sic] that hairy messer
And threw his hat to the _________ care
He says she's mine may the heavens bless her
But goodness how she's like a bear

He laid his hand on the donkey's nose
Wit' this the ass began to bray
And Pat jumped up and cried out “Save me“
I’m killed or murdered on the way

Chorus:
Right fol de dol de dol de daddy
Right fol de dol de dol de day

Oh Pat run off as fast as he could
As fast as the railroad speed I’m sure
He never stopped on leg or foot
Until he 'rrived at Biddy's door
And by that time twas nearly dawning
The boy knelt down some prayers to say
Oh let me in my Biddy darlin’
I’m killed or murdered on the way

Chorus:
Right fol de dol de dol de daddy
Right fol de dol de dol de day

Oh he told his story mighty pleasure
While she prepared the whiskey glass
How he hugged and smugged [sic] a hairy messer
Go 'long says she 'Twas Doolin's ass
I know it was my Biddy darlin’
They both got married that very next day
But he never got back the old straw hat
That the donkey ate upon the way

Chorus:
Right fol de dol de dol de daddy
Right fol de dol de dol de day
