Alabama Blossom

Mrs. Ned Lee NFLD 2 Tape 14 Track 2
St. Mary's Audio:
Ballad

LEACH: Go ahead.
MRS. LEE:(sings)

Away out on the snowy fields of cotton
There's a dear old country home l long to see
An a golden sunny state of Alabama
Where my memory do take me constantly

She's fairer than the sweet magnolia(sic) blossoms
Her eyes like bluebells in the month of May
My heart is always in the sunny Southlands
With my Alabama sweetheart far away

_______ Schoolmates in our childhood roamed together
In me she did confide without a care
I loved her dearly although l did not tell her
And we parted long ago as comrades dear

There's not a golden riches there to cheer me
No kindred there to bid me come
But a blue eyed maiden dearly waits upon me
In a quiet little Alabama home

But now l am a sad and lonely wanderer
A message from a friend l read today
Which told me there's another heart
To my Alabama sweetheart far away
